Errors in match reports: When Cables are attacking I am either focussing my camera to try to get a good action shot for the website or trying to stop my notebook and pen from falling on the floor! Not only that, but I have the world's worst memory for names and faces! With these factors to take into account it is inevitable that there will sometimes be mistakes in reports (e.g. the wrong player credited as having put in the cross that led to the goal). I email my reports to the non-league paper early Saturday evening (home matches only) then put them on the website and email them to the programme editor. If you spot a mistake it will probably be too late for the NLP, but if you email me I will correct any mistakes on the website version and arrange for the corrected version to be in the next match programme.

Cables 1 Frickley Athletic 1

A draw seemed the right result in this match between two sides who both seemed out of sorts.

Frickley had the first attack of the match in the fifth minute, when Cables' Mick O'Donnell cleared the danger with a good tackle.

Cables thought they had taken the lead on the half hour only to find out that the referee had already blown for offside. This upset the home crowd who thought the whistle was for a penalty.

The home side again came close on the stroke of half time when Darren Byers had a header saved. Half-time Cables 0 Frickley 0.

Cables took the lead after 57 minutes when Ryan Wade waltzed down the right wing, despite the over-zealous attention of several Frickley defenders, and crossed to Eamonn Price who shot home from close range.

But the home side's lead was short lived. After 60 minutes Chris White crossed from the left to the head of Lee Morris whose bullet header gave Zak Hibbert in the Cables goal no chance.

Cables tried hard to restore their lead when Wade passed to Eamonn Price who shot over the bar.

It seemed that the visitors were going to snatch victory after 83 minutes when Craig Marsh was through on goal. To the home side's relief, Marsh shot over when it seemed easier to score. Final score Cables 1 Frickley 1.
