Errors in match reports: When Cables are attacking I am either focussing my camera to try to get a good action shot for the website or trying to stop my notebook and pen from falling on the floor! Not only that, but I have the world's worst memory for names and faces! With these factors to take into account it is inevitable that there will sometimes be mistakes in reports (e.g. the wrong player credited as having put in the cross that led to the goal). I email my reports to the non-league paper early Saturday evening (home matches only) then put them on the website and email them to the programme editor. If you spot a mistake it will probably be too late for the NLP, but if you email me I will correct any mistakes on the website version and arrange for the corrected version to be in the next match programme.

Cables 0 Gateshead 2

Two goals just before half time in this UniBond Premier League match gave Gateshead victory.

Cables thought they had taken the lead after 25 minutes when Phil Cooney's shot was headed for the bottom right corner, but Gateshead goalkeeper Paul Musselwhite made the first of a series of excellent saves.

The first goal came after 40 minutes when a free kick from just outside the penalty area found its way to Philip Turnbull who shot the visitors into a 1-0 lead. Gateshead doubled their lead three minutes later when Carl Jones shot into the bottom corner from just outside the penalty area.

Cables came close in the 49th minute when Ryan Wade shot into the side netting and again 19 minutes later when substitute Eamonn Price shot into the side netting. James Croxton forced another good save out of Musselwhite after 75 minutes, but Cables could not get past Gateshead's outstanding goalkeeper and the match finished Cables 0 Gateshead 2.
