Errors in match reports: When Cables are attacking I am either focussing my camera to try to get a good action shot for the website or trying to stop my notebook and pen from falling on the floor! Not only that, but I have the world's worst memory for names and faces! With these factors to take into account it is inevitable that there will sometimes be mistakes in reports (e.g. the wrong player credited as having put in the cross that led to the goal). I email my reports to the non-league paper early Saturday evening (home matches only) then put them on the website and email them to the programme editor. If you spot a mistake it will probably be too late for the NLP, but if you email me I will correct any mistakes on the website version and arrange for the corrected version to be in the next match programme.

Cables 1 North Ferriby United 0

An inspirational moment from Cables' striker Eamonn Price gave the home side a much needed victory.

Cables nearly took the lead after three minutes when Liam Kennedy forced a good double save out of North Ferriby goalkeeper James Windeatt. Five minutes later it was the visitors' turn to come close when a corner from the right found Chris Bolder whose header was cleared off the line by Eddie Taylor.

A series of chances fell to Cables' Ryan Wade, but it was North Ferriby who thought they had taken the lead when a free kick found its way into the net after 32 minutes. The celebrations came to an abrupt end when the referee acknowledged the linesman's flag.

Both goalkeepers were called into action in the early stages of the second half with Wade forcing a save out of Windeatt after 52 minutes and Russell Fry for Richie Mottram at the other end.

With just over an hour on the clock came the moment that sealed the points for the home side. Michael Price took a free kick for North Ferriby that was well saved by Mottram. The Cables' keeper dispatched the ball to the other end of the pitch where Eamonn Price was on hand to lob the ball over the goalkeeper and then run past him to head it into the net.

Given the league positions of both sides, this was a match that neither could afford to lose, so it was no surprise that most of the remaining goalmouth chances were for the visitors as they desperately tried to pull level. But this was a day when Mottram was on excellent form and it was the home side who emerged victorious. Final score Cables 1 North Ferriby United 0.

Man of the match: A difficult decision with Ryan Wade, Eddie Taylor, and Eamonn Price all strong contenders. The decision went to Richie Mottram who made some impressive saves when the game was still goalless.
