Errors in match reports: When Cables are attacking I am either focussing my camera to try to get a good action shot for the website or trying to stop my notebook and pen from falling on the floor! Not only that, but I have the world's worst memory for names and faces! With these factors to take into account it is inevitable that there will sometimes be mistakes in reports (e.g. the wrong player credited as having put in the cross that led to the goal). I email my reports to the non-league paper early Saturday evening (home matches only) then put them on the website and email them to the programme editor. If you spot a mistake it will probably be too late for the NLP, but if you email me I will correct any mistakes on the website version and arrange for the corrected version to be in the next match programme.

Ossett Town 3 Cables 0

Saturday 13 October 2007 A sparse crowd heralded the Invision (Unibond TV) cameras at Ingfield for this Unibond Premier League match.

Both sides produced endeavour with the final product lacking in decisiveness. Prescot's Richie Mottram being the more active of the two keepers deflecting a shot from Fothergill away to safety early on.

An energetic Price carved out a chance for himself. His effort from a narrow angle drifted past the far upright.

The visitors fell behind once again to a goal almost on half time. Fothergill was allowed a free header in the 44th minute that Mottram finger-tipped onto the post. The ball presented itself to Walshaw who could not miss.

Questions were again asked of Prescot's defence when Fothergill from 6 yards out had time to select an area of goal to make the score two nil in the 67th minute.

Eammon Price had a couple of shots just wide and Karl Connolly hit the bar but it was Ossett's game. They wrapped up a convincing win in the last minute when Prescot allowed an Ossett attacker to wonder past three defenders. Thompson was presented with the simplest of tap-ins to plunge Cables towards the relegation zone.
