Errors in match reports: When Cables are attacking I am either focussing my camera to try to get a good action shot for the website or trying to stop my notebook and pen from falling on the floor! Not only that, but I have the world's worst memory for names and faces! With these factors to take into account it is inevitable that there will sometimes be mistakes in reports (e.g. the wrong player credited as having put in the cross that led to the goal). I email my reports to the non-league paper early Saturday evening (home matches only) then put them on the website and email them to the programme editor. If you spot a mistake it will probably be too late for the NLP, but if you email me I will correct any mistakes on the website version and arrange for the corrected version to be in the next match programme.

Worksop Town 1 Cables 4

Saturday 27 October 2007

Cables players and supporters received a much needed confidence boost with this Unibond Premier League success.

Only 3 minutes had lapsed when Karl Bell received the ball from a corner and found Thomas Moore whose header left the Worksop players motionless. Moments later Worksop pressure forced a corner. Prescot managed to clear the ball off the line as the home side appealed strongly for a goal; however the officials deemed the ball had not crossed the goal line. Ryan Wade then produced an individual goal of the season as he beat four players to shoot past keeper Hernandez in the 27th minute. Worksop captain Steve Hawes rifled a shot that hit the net via the post to halve their arrears 2 minutes from the break.

Prescot's two goal advantage was restored on 52 minutes when Karl Connolly's superb pass enabled Sam McNutt to score.

With the wind at their backs, Worksop created many chances without managing to hit the target. Prescot always looked dangerous going forward with Connolly orchestrating affairs. It was late in the game that Eammon Price sealed the win with his first goal since 21 August to lift Cables up to 15th in the Unibond Premier League table.

Prescot has a re-arranged match on Saturday 3 November at home to Eastwood Town. This is followed by another Valerie Park encounter with Ilkeston Town on Saturday 10 November.
