Errors in match reports: When Cables are attacking I am either focussing my camera to try to get a good action shot for the website or trying to stop my notebook and pen from falling on the floor! Not only that, but I have the world's worst memory for names and faces! With these factors to take into account it is inevitable that there will sometimes be mistakes in reports (e.g. the wrong player credited as having put in the cross that led to the goal). I email my reports to the non-league paper early Saturday evening (home matches only) then put them on the website and email them to the programme editor. If you spot a mistake it will probably be too late for the NLP, but if you email me (you will have to remove the words NOSPAM) I will correct any mistakes on the website version and arrange for the corrected version to be in the next match programme.

Cables 0 Worksop Town 1

Three defeats in a row leave Cables with a nerve-racking finale to the season.

The first opportunity for either side fell to Worksop's Adam Fretwell whose long shot was comfortably collected by Richie Mottram in Cables' goal. A minute later Cables' Peter Murphy took a free kick from just outside the penalty area but the ball went straight to goalkeeper Steve Hernandez. The spell of goalmouth activity ended after six minutes when Andy White shot wide for the visitors.

White was back in the thick of the action after 14 minutes when he headed the visitors into the lead from Kevin Sanasy's cross.

Cables began to have more of the action after going a goal behind but the next chance fell to Worksop with Sanasy and White again linking up well. Colin Flood in the home side's defence did well to clear the danger.

The best goalscoring opportunites for the remainder of the half fell to Cables, with Eddie Taylor shooting over the bar from Flood's free kick after 32 minutes and Peter Murphy also shooting over after 42. Half-time Cables 0 Worksop 1.

Cables' manager Andy Gray introduced Tommy Taylor to the proceedings early in the second half and Darren Byers shortly afterwards. Byers came close after 67 minutes when his shot hit the side netting.

Sanasy had shot over from 25 yards five minutes before Byers' effort and the only remaining goalmouth action of the match fell to Murphy whose header was saved after 72 minutes.
